2 years ago I switched to mirrorless and since I was already owning a Nikon and my lighting system/ flash were for Nikon, I didn't want to change the brand so I chose a mirrorless Nikon: Nikon Z 6II.
It works perfectly, never had any problems with it. It's easy to use, if you're already used to Nikon, has a nice grip, it's light and comes at a decent price.
I bought it without any bundle lens and bought my first Z lens separately, which was a 50mm, as you might have guessed. 50mm lenses are very versatile, you can use them in studio or outdoors on any type of model and scenario.
It has f/1:1.8 S so this means a couple of things such as: 1) you can achieve beautiful bokeh if you shoot wide open, 2) you can shoot in low light conditions 3) it gives you a nice shallow depth of field if you want to focus on details.
For an entire year almost I only shot with this lens, didn't buy anything else as I was just starting out and didn't want to heavily invest in equipment. Additionally, I had my old DSLR, a Nikon D7100, which was my first camera, bought in 2013 that I was keeping as backup but haven't used since I got the mirrorless.
Now I have multiple lenses, acquired over time, that I use for different occasions: a 35mm, great for smaller spaces or more cinematic looks, a 105mm that I use for outdoor couple photoshoots or outdoor portraits and a 70-200mm which is great for photographing children outdoors and working out your hands. :)
I'm still dreaming about getting this 85mm that is quite expensive and maybe one day I will. What's your dream lens?
